Day 4: The Great Escape to Sydney:

Weather update. Cloudy with sunny intervals Temp 24c

Yesterday was a whirlwind of trying to find transportation to Sydney. With trains running just three times, a day and buses operating ten times a day, leaving every hour, they were all fully booked until Sunday night. So, the only option left was to try my luck hitchhiking!

I hopped on the light rail, which runs through the streets to get out of the centre towards the motorway. As a side note, Tauranga could benefit from a light rail system running from Papamoa to the Mount along Cameron Rd to the Lakes. After an hour with little success, I stopped at the services and grabbed some Maccas (for those who might not know, that's McDonald's). Back on the main road, within 30 minutes, a car passed by turned around, and came back to pick me up. Divine intervention, I’d say, because I didn’t want to be stranded all day. John and Liz from Canberra were my saviours. They took me most of the way and even dropped me at the railway station so I could get into Central Sydney.

Stay tuned for more adventures as they unfold!
