Day 7: Leaving Sydney for Brisbane

Weather Update: Mostly cloudy in the early morning with sunny spells in the afternoon, high of 27°C. The forecast predicts rain later this evening.

Morning Routine

After an excellent night's sleep, I woke up at 7:30 am to a cloudy day, but at least it wasn’t raining after last night’s storm. With my train to Brisbane departing at 2:47 pm, it’s going to be a long day of travel. The earlier train was fully booked, and I wasn’t keen on staying another night in Sydney.

The Long Journey Begins

I’m gearing up for a nearly 15-hour journey to Brisbane, with a ridiculous arrival time in the middle of the night and a bus ride for the last 3 hours. I was not thrilled about the bus, especially after the station guy misinformed me. But, surprisingly, we ended up going straight into Brisbane, arriving about 20 minutes later than planned. Looks like I’ll have to get used to these unexpected travel quirks because more are sure to come in the future.

Trying to Sleep on the Train

Sleep was elusive on the train. The more I tried, the worse it got. Dinner was decent—Roast Lamb, Wedges, and Swede with gravy, along with a bread roll and a couple of beers. I had expected the train to be top-notch, but it turned out to be an older model with poor WiFi and no USB outlets. So, I ended up staring out the window, counting kangaroos!

Looking Ahead

Despite the hiccups, the journey to Brisbane is part of the adventure. Tomorrow, I’ll be in a new city with new experiences awaiting me.
