Day 2: Navigating Challenges in Bangkok

Overcoming Yesterday's Strain

I struggled today because of yesterday's long walk and my travel misadventures circumnavigating Bangkok's train system.

In Search of Relief

I hobbled to the Pharmacy to get some Ibuprofen to get me through the pain I was going through. I immediately took two x 600 ml and the Pharmacist insisted I get some food and something to drink.

Reflecting on Health Concerns

I was struggling at times to walk and when I return to NZ in November I may consider getting some support because of the hip replacements. It is something I will talk to my consultant when I return to renew my travel insurance.

Letting the Medication Work

I just needed to sit and let the Ibuprofen work, taking the load off my hips. Khao San Rd and the surrounding roads are filled with markets, and places to eat at high-end prices, so I decided to book a hostel I was in earlier in December where prices are a bit less. Returning to the hostel later in the day, my pain levels improved significantly.

Booking New Adventures

Today, I also booked my hostel at the Prince Theatre Heritage Stay and my flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh. I considered very seriously whether I should attempt to go through Myanmar via train, but both the NZ Embassy and the British Embassy grade Myanmar as a level 4 threat, so the decision was made for me to fly. I am flying on Wednesday afternoon.

A Quiet Night

I had a quiet night back at the hostel, ready to leave on Monday.
