Day 4: Difficulty with the Language

Weather Update: Sunny with a high of 30°C

Morning Challenge

Leaving the hostel, I planned to take a local bus into the city to catch a minivan to the floating markets. I waited for ages, but the traffic congestion was terrible. When the bus finally arrived, I was convinced it was the right one. I checked with the conductor, who waved her hands, indicating either no, it wasn't the right bus, or she didn't understand my English. She turned her back and ignored me. Not wanting to risk getting on the wrong bus, I got off and huffed a bit.

Afternoon Exploration

By early afternoon, I decided to browse around the food stalls. It was very hot, and there was little shade, so I headed back to the hostel to find other options for the floating markets. The costs ranged from 40-150 baht, but when I tried to book, the price jumped to 2500-3500 baht. Frustrated, I decided to give up on the idea. Hopefully, I’ll find something similar in Laos or Vietnam. Photos Added

Evening Find

I went out later in the afternoon and posted a couple of postcards and was pleasantly surprised to find a bar located right on the river called Jack's Bar. This little shack is Bangkok's cheapest riverside bar, hidden behind the Shangri-La hotel you'll find a drinking den of the old-school variety. It gives wonderful views of the river with the tourist boats, river taxis, and other crafts. I met a gentleman called Johan from Germany and we had a long conversation for several hours discussing a great range of topics but he thinks that Thailand is the best country in the world to live in. As the night wore on all the boats were fitted with a colourful array of lights all lit up giving it a wonderful display of colour as you sip a cold beer glaring out across the river, hopefully, the photos come out, will add them later today.
