Day 3: Challenging Times in Singapore

Weather Update: Cloudy with sunny intervals. Windy High of 30°C.

A Good Night's Sleep

Last night was the best sleep I've had on this trip. I woke up at 7:15 a.m., and my roommates were still asleep by 9:30 a.m. The day started with light rain, so I waited for it to stop before heading out around 10 a.m.

Shopping for Sandals

I travelled by metro to Paya Lebar Square, on a mission to find better footwear than beach flip-flops. I’m now the proud owner of Weinbrenner sandals, complete with peppermint-infused antimicrobial protection—so no more smelly feet!

Hostel Life and Improvements

After my recent hip surgery, I managed to switch from a top bunk to a bottom bunk, which is much more convenient. While the hostels here don’t quite match the standards in Australia, where they provide kitchens and utensils for backpackers, it's still been a decent stay.

Coping with the Heat

The heat makes it challenging to be out and about, so I decided to wind down early. Tomorrow, I plan to explore the Harbour and Chinatown. I’m also contemplating my next move to Kuala Lumpur in the coming days. The bus journey includes a stop at Malacca, which seems worth exploring for a few days.

Reflections

It's nice to wake up and decide on the day's adventures. Whether to stay or move on, each day presents new possibilities. I’ll keep you updated on my travels and decisions.
