Day 17: Arrival in Darwin - Part 2
Weather Update: Sunny with cloudy intervals, high of 31°C.
Touching Down in Darwin
After landing in Darwin, I quickly realized there was no direct public transport into the city. My options were either a taxi or an Uber, but feeling adventurous, I decided to walk to the nearest bus stop. To my dismay, the bus stop had been moved a kilometre away from where I trudged through the sticky heat. Luck was on my side, though—I hitched a ride that took me directly to the street where Mom’s Hostel is located.
Settling In at Mom’s Hostel
Mom’s Hostel exceeded my expectations with its bar and two swimming pools. I’ll upload some pictures online to give you a glimpse. The lady at reception, however, had a somewhat feisty demeanour, possibly due to her Irish roots or the long work hours.
Exploring Darwin’s Nightlife
Eager to explore, I set out early to soak in the local scene. Thursday night turned out to be the prime time for entertainment in Darwin. The street was alive with people enjoying themselves, with pubs, restaurants, and eateries buzzing with activity. The first pub I visited had Wi-Fi issues, so I moved to another spot where the Wi-Fi was working perfectly, making for a pleasant evening.
