Day 167: A Waiting Game

Weather: Cloudy 19°C

Elevation: 90 metres

Staying on Track

Day 167: Today brought a small but important chore — completing my International Pension form, something I need to submit every six months to maintain it. After a few attempts, including a visit to a lawyer who declined to assist, I found a warm welcome at St Mark's Orthodox Church. A kind priest not only witnessed my signature but also added an official stamp. Now, I just have to hope MSD accepts it — and perhaps a few prayers will help!

Moving Onward: Next Stop, Sarajevo

I’ve booked my next journey: a night bus from Belgrade to Sarajevo, departing at 10 p.m. and arriving at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. For now, it’s simply a waiting game. I’ll walk into the city centre later to get closer to the bus station — and perhaps slip into a nearby Irish pub to catch a Liverpool or Manchester City match this afternoon.

New Friends on the Road

Last night, I met two charming Chinese travellers, Jialong and Justin (photos to come!). We enjoyed a great conversation about our travels. My age came up as usual — "You're not serious?" they said. "Yes, I am," I smiled, offering to show my passport. Maybe all this travel is making me look younger and more vibrant — I feel that way!

Challenges Are Only Hills to Climb

While researching hostels for Sarajevo, I noticed something curious: one with a 7.5 location rating but an overall 9.4. I discovered it's perched on a hill. Perfect! I booked it immediately — a good excuse to test my walking legs.

Celebrating Milestones

Over the past few days, I’ve crossed a major personal achievement: 1,049 kilometres walked! That’s an average of 6.28 kilometres per day, and tonight’s journey will push me over 29,000 total travel kilometres, averaging 178 kilometres per day.

Not bad for someone who, not so long ago, struggled with crippling osteoarthritis. Every step feels like a celebration of life, strength, and resilience.

An Invitation to Dream

There’s not much more to say for now, except a heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to support my journey around the world.

If you know anyone — friends, family, acquaintances — who dreams of seeing the world through a different lens, invite them to join me at inspireseniorstravel.com.

The more, the merrier!

People often ask how much money I make from blogging and hostel reviews. The answer is simple: this is a labour of love. I do it for the sheer joy of travel, the incredible people I meet, and the beautiful reminder that adventure has no age limit.
