Kathmandu Leaving: A Journey Begins

Early Morning Preparations

I set my alarm clock for 7:30 this morning to ensure I was fully awake and ready to leave. As usual, a thin layer of cloud rested over the mountains, even though the sun shone brightly. The temperature was a chilly 8°C, warming up to about 10°C when I left.

The Journey to the Airport

I spoke with a motorbike rider who transports people around the city centre, and we agreed on a price of 300 NPR for a ride to the airport. However, by 10:05 am, he hadn't arrived, and I began to wonder if he had forgotten or was just running late. I waited outside from 9:30 am to make sure I was ready if he came early. In the end, I took a taxi for 700 NPR (approximately USD 5).

Airport Security and Check-In Woes

Upon entering the airport, I passed through security scanners without any hassle but had to wait half an hour for check-in to open, despite the screens indicating it was open. After customs, I had to surrender my scissors once again, even though they were recognized as standard carry-on items. This marked the third pair confiscated from my emergency medical kit for travellers.

A Disappointing Lunch

Before boarding, I purchased a chicken burger for lunch. The patty was so thin it was almost transparent, and the quality left much to be desired. It was not something I would buy again.

The Final Bag Search

As we boarded the aircraft, another bag search took place. This was the first time I had seen this happen after passing through two security scanners. Despite the delay, the captain assured us we would arrive in Delhi on schedule.

Arrival in Delhi

We took off at 2:00 pm, half an hour late, and arrived in Delhi, where the temperature was 23°C. I had another flight later that evening at 7:30 pm to Tbilisi, Georgia. While I looked forward to travelling on the ground in the future, I remained focused on my current journey. This is another city in Asia where pollution hangs like a cotton sheet creating scenes of a wintery lowland mist.

I hope enjoy my travels reach out to me if you to talk about anything.
